    BTCC Predictions 2018 - Oulton Park

    Hello people!

    Welcome to the 2018 BTCC.net forum predictions championship. I know I said I'd stand down but hey, things have changed and I have a bit of time to run it so here we go.

    I've made some changes for 2018, which I'll explain as I go through it all.

    With a full grid of 32 cars, 19 previous race winners and 5 champions on the grid, it'll be a good season ahead.

    The basic format is the same as 2017, predicting the pole driver and results of the 3 races, however for 2018 it won't be the top 3 to predict but the top 5, but there is no Jack Sears Trophy part this season.

    So the format;

    Pole

    Race 1;
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    FL

    Race 2;
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    FL

    Race 3;
    Grid Draw
    Driver
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    FL

    The points scoring for 2018 is;

    Race 1 Pole; 12 Points
    Races 1, 2 & 3;

    P1 - 30 Points
    P2 - 26 Points
    P3 - 22 Points
    P4 - 20 Points
    P5 - 18 Points
    FL - 15 Points

    Reverse Grid number; 10 Points
    Reverse Grid Driver; 15 Points

    If you get both position and driver correct, it'll be 30 points.

    For race 1 only, if you predict Pole, Winner and FL correctly, you'll score 70 Points, compared to the 57 it would be. So if you predicted Turkington to get Pole, win R1 and FL, you'll score 70 points but it would be 42 Points if he got pole and the win but another driver got FL.

    Half points will be awarded if you guess a driver correctly but in the wrong position - aka you predict Rob Austin to finish P2 but he finishes P3, you'll score 11 Points for P3. The half points will be for the position the driver finishes in.

    The total possible score for a weekend will be 160 Points.

    The Croft and Brands GP events will both be double point events, I'm happy for suggestions for what to do for the double length race at Snetterton later in the year.

    If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask and I'll answer.

    Entries must be in by 9am of the Saturday of the race weekend - any entries after that but before qualifying will be accepted at my discresion but subject to a 10% points deduction as a late entry ballast. Anything entered after the start of qualifying won't be accepted.

    Good luck all!

    Cari Lou & Tom; your entries will be accepted, however they are subject to the 10% late entry deduction :-)

    Hello people!

    Well, hands up - who predicted Matt Simpson to take his first BTCC victory before Dan Cammish then? This surprise result (if not deserved, I'm chuffed for Matt!) meant that, in the opening race at least, it screwed up a lot of peoples predictions. Races 2 and 3 saw the return of the experienced drivers as Colin Turkington and Rob Collard both took their first wins of the season, with Turkington moving into the lead of the Championship.

    How did the results from Oulton Park shape up the results for the BTCC forum predictions though?

    1. Clio172ron - 130 Points
    2. BTCCROCKS - 125 Points
    3. PRM666 - 103 Points
    4. Cari Lou - 95 Points*
    5. VanillaAstra - 93 Points
    6. Motormouth_33 - 85 Points
    7. Tomabigbtccfan - 64 Points**
    8. SpanneredMonkey - 58 Points
    9. Swag - 54 Points

    * - Cari Lou deducted 11 points as per the regulations for a late entry.
    ** - Tomabigbtccfan deducted 7 points as per the regulations for a late entry.

    So it is Clio172ron who top scored from Oulton, closely followed by BTCCROCKS and Prm666, whilst the penalty for Cari Lou means that its fourth, when a full score would have left a top 3 result a possibility.

    How have the Championship standings been affected with the Oulton Park results?

    1. Clio172ron - 366 Points
    2. Prm666 - 363 Points *
    3. VanillaAstra - 347 Points
    4. Cari Lou - 340 Points **
    5. Motormouth_33 - 321 Points
    6. BTCCROCKS - 306 Points
    7. Tomabigbtccfan - 270 Points ***
    8. SpanneredMonkey - 222 Points
    9. Swag - 218 Points
    10. PiesJohn13 - 97 Points

    * - Prm666 had a points deduction at Brands Hatch for a late entry.
    ** - Cari Lou had a points deduction for a late entry for Oulton Park.
    *** - Tomabigbtccfan had a points deduction for a late entry for Oulton Park.

    So its Clio172ron who leads the way heading to Croft, closely followed by Prm666 - who would be top but for the points deduction at Brands Hatch - whilst 2017 Champion VanillaAstra holds P3, whilst Cari Lou would have been P3 but for the Oulton Park points deduction.

    Thank you to everyone for your continued support, the double points Croft event will open very soon - however, if anyone enters late, you'll still only lose the 10%, not 20%.

    Cheers!

    I was going to put matt simpson for pole and a race 1 win but changed my mind at the last minute!! Ok not really. Chuffed with my consistency so far, if only the team had my machinery ready on time for the brands opener!
    thanks astra for your hard work! I'm guessing there will be a lot of close scores at croft.. who will be brave enough to bet against the king of croft?!?
